The Sun Doesn't Rise With Manteca Kiwanis

Last night the Manteca Senior Citizens Hall provided a spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings to all those who purchased a ticket to attend the dinner and bingo event. Sources tell me the dinner is a once a month event that gathers a couple hundred of Manteca seniors and their guests.

One of those guests happened to be Samuel Anderson and his wife Akemi. They attended the event with some of their senior friends expecting to have a good time and that they did even under the circumstances that happened.

What happened was and with typical good'ole fashion kindness of our senior citizens, one of the seniors in charge (Mayor Willies brother) happened to notice Samuel being in the crowd and asked him to stand up and come to the mic to be recognized. I asked Samuel what did he say.

"It was totally unexpected and I was honored to be recognized let alone get up and speak. So, I went to the mic and told everyone I was looking forward to this well-known spaghetti dinner for a long time and that I'm happy to be there among friends and I'm not here to speak about politics but if you wish to speak with me please feel free to stop by my table and get to know me, thank you."

That was it!

Why am I writing about the Manteca Kiwanis? Because Dennis Wyatt had mentioned in his article that THE CLUB happens to be the Manteca Kiwanis and if you ever expect to get on the city council you had better be a member of this organization. Samuel Anderson used to be a member of this organization.

What happened next was the Senior Center Advisory Board Chairperson Jo Ann Jamerson went up to Samuel's wife who she knows and asked her if she purchased a ticket. Akemi responded 'no' because they are a guest of some friends. Jo Ann told her that she needs to leave if she did not purchase a ticket. "I didn't take her seriously because it's just Jo Ann and quite frankly she's always been this way and she will never change, she's just a very bitter person and she apparently carries it over from her time with Kiwanis where we were members of before, she never liked us because Samuel was always a person to not accept indignant remarks from anyone, especially her," Akemi said.

What happened next was Jo Ann went to the mic and she said she had to say something. Here is what she said. "I need to say something here, out of respect for two of our members of our senior center, Jack Snyder and Steve DeBrum, we're not going to endorse Samuel Anderson. So, nobody here endorse this man and we don't allow this place to be a political platform for him (Samuel). He's not a member here and I want to make sure you understand."

Many of the seniors at that time appeared to be disgusted with Jo Ann Jamerson and went to Samuel and his wife and apologized for her remarks and some of them even mentioned that they will be voting for Samuel. They realized that Samuel and his wife were there as a guest only and it was rude to even mention this since he was asked to speak as a guest, not as a candidate which he did not campaign.

One other item came to my attention from my source is that a homeless family came to the doors and asked if they can have a plate of food. Jo Ann was there and she responded to them to go away because if you don't have a ticket, you don't eat, it's the rules. I was told that there was plenty of left-overs and even after all the people who had seconds, there still was enough food left over.

It appears that Jo Ann Jamerson still has a beef with Samuel Anderson and his wife because he does not conform to the standards and self-made rules of the Kiwanis organization. This organization is for people who do not have the money for several things related to hospitals and sicknesses and children. Why are they involved with politics? Why are they standing by and allowing this woman to take charge and say what she will? It's because Jack Snyder and Steve DeBrum support her and stand with her in their fight against Samuel Anderson becoming our next City Councilman of Manteca.

The Manteca Kiwanis should be ashamed of themselves. Furthermore, the front page of the Manteca Bulletin now has Captain Black-Jack Snyder walking precincts. Good luck, Jack! Make sure you take plenty of Geritol and whatever else you can take because you don't stand a chance against Samuel Anderson. It's time to retire and it's time to step down. It's the right thing to do for Manteca.
