Don't ask, don't tell.
I can't help myself today while reading the Manteca Bulletin Opinion section by Jason Campbell. I had no idea he and Brandon lived together as I'm sure most of Manteca was not aware of either. I'm sure there was a discussion about this coming out of the closet. Hey, I'm sure they're happy and I'm not one to discuss what goes on in someones personal life and who they live with and what they do together. So they live together, so what?
I'll be honest here, it was difficult to get into the opinion as the writing was junior at best. However, let's get beyond the letter of opinion and get to the meat and potatoes of it.
It always amazes me how junior writers (and this can also include his age and maturity level) seem to think they have been around the block and can write about history of politics and current events and with complete authority without impunity. Heck, Jason can't even write about Nixon or Ford because he probably wasn't even born yet.
His remarks about Frank Aquila mentioning 'liberal voice' was clearly taken out of the context of Frank's response and postings. Frank, an established political commentator and party representative for the people of South San Joaquin Republicans simply stated one side as a compliment of Karen Pearsall. Many hundreds of papers mention on a daily basis 'liberal voice' and 'conservative voice' in their opinion sections. Frank Aquila is the 'conservative voice'. Apparently, Jason Campbell does not get it just as his partner Brandon Petersen's obscene lashing out a couple of weeks ago did the same.
The rest of the article is not worth writing about because its just non-conforming content to fill-in the post and doesn't mean anything really. I think the Manteca Bulletin should have a 'Left' and a 'Right' or 'Liberal' or 'Conservative' Opinion section points of view and get rid of the lefty twins Brian and Jason stamped and approved by Editor in Chief Dennis Wyatt. This way, we can have two voices of opposite sides give their opinions.
I feel for both Frank and Karen having to deal with immature writers who can not at this time in their career get the picture of what goes on out there. Reporters don't get involved, they just write. Don't you think it's about time to get involved fellas?
