The Lights Have Turned On For Councilman Hernandez

It didn't take long for councilman Vince Hernandez to figure out where the light switch is. We, the Manteca Response, have some secret inside communications that I will bring to your attention from the Hernandez camp.

"Honey! Yes! What is this? It's a plug! For?"..........And, the rest is history. After viewing a toy car on the floor and with its external plug for juice-ups in between, it appears that we need to start getting ready for the future for electric cars.

Where is the reality in having electric re-charging stations in our city at this time? Has there been any study on how many of these electric vehicles are owned by citizens in our city? No, there hasn't. Does councilman Hernandez understand the cost behind this? Does he understand that this type of technology changes and is being upgraded on a continuous basis? Finally, where is the money going to come from to pay for the re-charges that users will plug into? Is this going to be a coin meter operated re-charging station? Electricity costs money, Vince!

We should not even think about this until you obtain enough statistics on owners of actual electric cars who live in Manteca and then provide some areas for it. Otherwise, leave it for the private sector to do it. There are cities across this State that have stations around their towns, but they are on private property and most of them are at banks of all places. We do have streets that are in desperate need of being repaired and paved and up to code. Is anybody hearing me over here or is it just me? How on earth will this electric car survive the Manteca streets?

So, before you begin to start spending our money again councilman, please try to get us out of debt first. You, Willie and the boys have gotten us in debt to the tune of over 8 million dollars. Now that's an idea. This continued infatuation with "Build it and they will come" needs to be put aside for a while. Did the light switch go on this time, Vince? Vince? Hello, Vince?

"Honey!", Yes!.......
