Manteca Mayor Posts Half-Truths On His Website

I finally saw an advertisement on the MB regarding Mayor Willie Weatherford and had to click on it.  I was taken to his website.  It's a giant one-page advertisement with one image taking up the entire page.  I want to go through it so we can see just how honest this website is.

1.  "The local job market has increased to over 24,000 jobs"

What is wrong with this picture?  Do we even have those many jobs available with the mount of businesses in the City of Manteca?  No, we don't.  How is it so when we are currently at a 14.2% jobless rate in Manteca?  How can he rationalize the shear number of people who live in Manteca and those who are at legal age to work?  We have a population of 65,000 living in the City of Manteca.  Out of that number we have retired and school children which make up a considerable amount.  Then we have those who stay at home and raise the family.  Then we have several other categories that do not work either.  This with the amount of retail space and unoccupied LARGE buildings and warehouses, we just don't have the numbers he's touting.  If Willie is trying to say to us that we've enlarged this city enough to allow this number, then he can say it.  But, he's not!

2.  "The value of Manteca property has doubled, affording a major benefit to your city services"

The value of homes in Manteca has dropped.  It's going to continue to drop once January 1, 2011 arrives because of the Obama tax increases from the new health care bill that passed.  More homes will go under and more people will move away from Manteca.  What major benefit to our city services has this happened other than all the layoffs and cut-backs and forced early retirements in order to bring city budgets under control?  Just recently, the city manager Steve Pinkerton took a pay cut

3.  "Taxable sales have tripled - as a result of increased visitors - providing more services at no additional costs to residents"

Today's Headlines: "Manteca retail sales drop just 2.4%".  California as a whole plunges 15% in 3Q comparisons.  He's right about one thing...taxes have increased, but not for revenue generating services.  Our taxes in Manteca are the highest in the county.  We are part of some of the highest in the entire State.  I don't care what he might think or write about, EVERYTHING COSTS!

On November 2, 2010 - Who will YOU be voting for?  More of the same?  Or, simply vote them out?

Mayoral Candidate Ben Cantu Attacks Councilwoman Debby Moorhead

It's no secret!  The political attacks are now a reality in the race for Mayor of Manteca.  Here's the clincher I found out about the Manteca Bulletin having mentioned that Samuel Anderson is the one that takes it to the floor like an ultimate fighter.  But first, here's a little something from Dennis Wyatt in his first sentence of this article: "Get ready for one of the most polite - and possibly closest - races for mayor Manteca has ever seen."

Dennis Wyatt continues to say, "Regardless of how the race is handicapped at this stage, one thing is for sure: This will be a race involving manners and not throat cutting although Anderson has a reputation for being more than strident."  You can read it all right here

"Weatherford, Cantu, and Moorhead are all sincere when they say they respect each other. In fact, they are all members of the same service club - the Manteca Noon Kiwanis. They have disagreed in the past without wielding an ax to bury in the other guy’s back. In other words, they are cordial and don’t throw a fit when they don’t get their way nor do they resort to personal attacks."

Is that so, Dennis?  Really?  Are you SURE???

Huh, well...let's see what we have here.  Could it be, oh, yes, yes, that's who he is...Ben Cantu!  What?  A political ad in the Big Bopper ShopperYes, you can view it here.  Better yet, let me show you the ad.

Wow!  This is really amazing!  What was it that Dennis Wyatt said about 'Weatherford, Cantu, and Moorhead'?  Oh, yes...they "respect each other."  And let's not forget they are all members of the Kiwanis.  Oh, and they don't wield an ax in each others back.  Really?  "Nor do they result to personal attacks."

What does this ad say?  Well, it says "Ms. Moorhead" two times in the same paragraph.  She has "fallen in line", and is lacking...in safety, leadership, focus, response, being fiscal and has NO CULTURE.  Could it be he's pissed off about her running for mayor?  Who cares!  Debby is running because it's going to give Willie the advantage of splitting the votes.

So, Dennis Wyatt says that Samuel Anderson needs to tone it down, keep it straight and ethical and "Regardless of how the race is handicapped at this stage, one thing is for sure: This will be a race involving manners and not throat cutting."  Dennis goes on to say, "Cantu has been shaping up as a formidable candidate as he has been running a low-key campaign."  LMAO!!!

"There is one thing that can totally upset the apple cart of anyone’s version of conventional wisdom and that’s Samuel Anderson."  I agree!  Either way, his running in the race to be on the council is a good decision this year.  I think he'll get it.  He has my vote.

KEEP RUNNING THOSE ADS BEN...AND DEBBY, YOU NEED TO FIGHT BACK...COME ON, SHOW YOUR LOVE, CUT HIS THROAT!

Manteca Bulletin Playing Tricks Again by Favoring Special Candidates

It's no secret that Dennis Wyatt has used the position he holds as Managing Editor of the Manteca Bulletin to push his agenda or more specifically, his favorites for city council.

Every time there is an election the Manteca Bulletin starts granting more coverage to the candidates that are either the incumbents or those belonging to the good'ole boys club, more specifically, Kiwanis.

Dennis Wyatt stated in a June 26 article that he is giving a space to candidates in order to explain their platforms.  We have yet to see Dennis follow through.

Dennis quotes: "That is what is prompting an ongoing series that starts on today’s front page of having candidates discuss specific issues.

The first subject matter was at the suggestion of Manteca mayor candidate Ben Cantu who wanted to share his ideas about what he believes needs to be done downtown.

That led to a decision to invite all candidates to share their thoughts as to what they would try to do - or wouldn’t do - with specific issues if they are elected in November."

So far, he has given Ben Cantu, Willie Weatherford and Debby Moorhead in three consequtive articles a chance to speak about 'downtown'.
Then Dennis says: "So far we’ve made contact with three of the five mayor candidates to listen to their visions and plans for downtown and have messages into the other two. They will not necessarily run altogether or consecutively. The same offer will be extended to council candidates as well."

This has not happened.  In fact, after contacting Samuel Anderson and Richard Behling, they say no contact has been made to them.  Mr. Anderson stated that once he heard about this article, he contacted the MB just to make sure they had his information updated.  However, no contact has been made yet.

This is an outright lie and it appears that Dennis Wyatt hopes this will go away.  I'm going to make sure the truth is going to be put out front because we have not heard from Anderson, Behling or Perry on this topic.  Dennis is playing favorites again and this is a shame.  The citizens of Manteca deserve better and he should not be printing material that is a lie when in fact he did not contact these candidates regarding this topic.

Manteca Mayor Race Heats Up...well...sort of

There are now five candidates running for Mayor of Manteca.  While I have stated my vote numerous times on the various blogs and comments online, I've been blasted by others for my endorsements of others years prior including an attempt to confuse by placing words in my mouth from some liberal about how I stated a half-truth about Carlon Perry.

The fact is I have a right to choose who I want to endorse and who I do not want to endorse.  I also have the right to change my mind years down the road.  If you don't like it, then FUCK YOU!  My free speech is what it is and I don't need anyone telling me how I should write or remind me of what I said attempting to hold me to it or prevent me from changing my mind.  What I will not accept is someone telling something that is fabricated to lie outright and accuse me of saying something I did not say.  That is a lie.  That is a spin.  Something liberals are very good at doing.

If you're going to comment online and say my name, you had better get it right...otherwise I'll give you a Check Mate.

Right now our country is in need of good leaders, real leaders and those who can get the job done because they have no special interests as our current politicians do.  They hold no allegiance or run when they get attacked by liberals spinning half truths or holding them to articles years back.  They are not socialists or Obama supporters.  They are common sense and they are American.  All others are fakes.

Samuel Anderson To Run For Mayor of Manteca

I'm very happy to see that Samuel Anderson has decided to run against incumbent Willie Weatherford. I believe he will be a much better candidate than Ben Cantu and eventually a tough mayor for our city.

Samuel is correct when he says there are two candidates that have pensions paying out from the city and that concerns me. For too long we have seen councilmen playing politics because they have been involved with the city and know who everyone is. In fact, they have allegiances to many in order to keep the status quot.

I'm not sure how Samuel will run his campaign this time, but I'm sure it will be an interesting one. His focus is strictly on finance and this is what we need. We need to accept the fact that we already have things we need to hang on to for a little while longer until we get our budget and finances under control. The rest will follow and this is why I support Samuel Anderson for Mayor. A long-shot for sure, but a very good chance.
